This one has two sources, from two goretober prompt lists, days 2 from lemons_art@insta: bandaged, and occultopposum@tumblr: monster
Once there was a man with a sickly younger brother. For a long time, the younger brother tried alongside his brother to help make ends meet so they wouldn't starve. But the more he worked the sicker he got until one day he broke out in a terrible pox that covered his skin. On top of this, he was so weak he could hardly move from their house on his own.
So now the older brother would help wrap him in bandages, dress him and carry him into the city to beg for alms all day while the older brother worked whatever jobs accepted him at the time.
Before long, the elder of the two became resentful at their predicament, but mostly at his brother. "If it were me alone, I could maybe save some money. I'd have more food and more energy to spend on work. I have no money to marry a wife, and even if I did, who would marry their daughter to me as long as my brother stays under the same roof? Isn't the younger supposed to care for the older? Maybe it would be better to leave him to die then, for both our sakes."
So he made a plan to leave his brother out in the wilderness beyond the smaller towns. "Brother, I've had no luck with work in the city, but I can forage some wild plants for us in the countryside to carry us over. The fresh air and sunlight might be helpful for your condition, too."
And he got his brother ready to be carried out into the country. The older brother figured he wouldn't need to go too far out as long as he could find a spot that was secluded so no passers by would have to find his brother while they were out walking. So he set his brother down in a clearing, then he went off to collect some food so it didn't seem odd at first. He slowly moved bit by bit out of view of his brother, and when he had collected enough for himself to eat for a few days, he left his brother in the clearing.
He got home and started to make himself some dinner, and he found a bit of his brother's bandages stuck to his sleeve. He burned it in the cooking fire and paid it no more mind. He ate his dinner and went to sleep.
The next day, the man ate the wild vegetables with a little rice for breakfast, feeling upbeat for the first time in a while, and then headed quickly toward the city to find work. But as he walked, his legs felt more heavy. He looked down to see a strip of used bandage around his feet. He decided it was odd but only pulled it away and continued on.
Soon, his arms felt heavy, and he looked to find used bandages tied around his forearms, and he knew that wasn't just by chance, and that he certainly didn't tie them there himself. He tugged them off, and now he tried to run to the city as fast as he could. He ran and ran, but soon he really was tired and he had to slow down.
And then his whole body felt heavy, like he was carrying his brother again. He fell to the ground, and could not get up again, feeling blood bandages bundling him up in the road. Trying to pull them off only made them wrap tighter until he couldn't draw another breath.
