Tumblr update: the worsening

SO tumblr staff decided to up the saturation on absolutely everything, and make the background blue darker. The navy blue on its own is nice? But with neon everything else it looks absolutely horrible. My troll Akhena would like it, but she quite enjoys art with bright, clashing colors that cause psychic damage if you look at them too long, so that should say something.

[eek, you have my sympathy! i'm hearing mixed opinions on it and it makes me ask, again, why tumblr changes just happen and why third party adjustments have to scramble to assist the userbase in having a fuckin choice about stuff -_- ]

My theory is they want quick one-size-fits-all solutions, but that doesn't work for accessibility and the like. So they don't test or give the options to change things, they just DO them without thinking out possible consequences.

[time and time again they've got away with doing things site-wide and making the changes non-optional, and we've responded with wry humour and @staff comedy posts. not that the userbase is to blame but the people pulling the strings at tumblr probably feel like the safety net is pretty strong, they can test it quite far before it snaps. i wonder how many people quit supporting the site altogether following the sanitisation of dec '18? probably a lot less than tumblr would ever care about *is still giving it clicks and time* ]
